DJ Vinnie Esparza's Friday Five

We've known DJ Vinnie Esparza since he was just a pup. He's always had great taste in jazzy, funky & psychedelic grooves and has been voted "Best DJ in San Francisco" a few times. He's also been known to release some rare and tasty sounds on his own Disjoint label. We've asked Vinnie to bring Global Noize a regular selection of some of his favorite tunes. Check back every Friday for a hand picked selection that's guaranteed to make your weekends groove harder-

Here is another selection of five tunes and videos fans of Six Degrees will dig.

This clip just kills. This is the legendary Fruko on bass along with with other heavyweights of Colombian music.

Perhaps my favorite Beatles cover to come out of Jamaica. This was recorded around 1972.

Diggin' deep on this one. Heavy Chinese Funk!

Had to pinch myself when I came across this. The African James Brown??

Yes, it's Parliament covering Funkadelic on this early 45. Parliament never sounded so raw!

Spinning the Monterey Jazz Festival September 18th & 19th. Swing by the DJ tent and say hi.
